RE: Salmon, Cedar, and a Grill?
Really soak the plank well overnight and even though it takes a while keep the grill on low. You do not want the plank to dry out and ignite. What you want is to make the plank/water steam/boil and almost poach the salmon. If you are hesitant just put a bit of tin foil under the plank just a bit larger than the plank to prevent it from catching fire. It is a slow cook process. If you have a dual burner only light one side and put the plank and salmon on that side.
RE: how much do you trust the next guy?
We caught a masked bandit one night dragging away our locked garbage bin. I guess the little raccoons could smell the chicken bones.
RE: Ford Info Please
I recently went from a 2005 Silverado with the 8.1 and Allison to a 2008 F350 V-10 Ford with the torqueshift tranny and actually find it to work equally or even better to the Allison towing a heavy 5er.
RE: Towing and parking 5'er
Agree with other posters. Make turns wider as the 5er tracks inside the turn of the truck as a TT tracks right behind it. Also agree with backing in, just watch your wheels and follow it in.
RE: ford Super duty brake controller
I have a 2008 F-350 with the integrated brake controller and it is very good. At first I was waiting for a bit of a 'grab' as with the Prodigy but soon learned that it was working well just much smoother than the Prodigy. I have played around a bit with the gain and fine 8.5 to 9 works best. Highly recommend the integrated brake controller. I tow a 36 ft Mobile Suites 5er.
RE: Class A Motorhome delivery driver
I had a friend who looked into this and he found out that you are not permitted to stay in the MH on a delivery and the costs were too high to make any money.
RE: Has rise in gas prices caused you to decrease your camping?
Figure this. a 5000 mile trip at 8mph uses 625 gallons. Last year gas was $3.25 per gallon when we were in Florida. This year using a $4.00 per gallon cost will be an increase of $468.00. I think we will still go to Florida.
RE: Using 30 amp service on a 50 amp Fifth Wheel
We are currently in a 30 amp park with a 50 amp trailer. I just put the fridge and water heater on gas and carry on. I do not think you will be able to run two A/C with 30 amp.
RE: Wapakoneta KOA near Lima, OH
We have stayed there before and it is one of the best, cleanest, and well managed KOA's we have ever seen. Nice young couple run it and they are very friendly and wecoming. The sites are tight but easy to access. It really is a nice place. Also far enough off the highway it is quiet.
RE: What's Port Burwell park like ????
Port Burwell is one of our favourite parks. We stayed at site 200 last year. Big private sites with a nice beach. They have extra large sites for our 37 ft 5er and the site was huge. Like all Provincial Parks the power post is mid way between two sites so make sure you take a 30 amp extension or two.
RE: replacing tires with sensors
Polishnurse yes aftermarket sensors may be in the valve stem but the 2008 vehicles have them right in the wheel with a reset device. If the tire shop does not know what they are doing they can mess them up. They must also know how to do a reset. A new tire installation will have an effect on them. So says my 2008 Ford F 350 manual.
RE: Experienced Florida Snowbirds – need your advice....
Good luck on the reservations. We made reservations in Fort Myers Beach when we were there last winter and could not get the time frame we wanted because they were full. Might be different this year with gas prices but I think the gulf coast snowbirds may not be that affected by gas prices. We are towing to Florida and moving 4 times all winter with longer stay parks.
RE: Need some straight answers on GPS!
I have the Garmin 7200 and it is fantastic. It works very well while sitting at the dinette table inside my 5er. These units are WAAS enabled which means they work on satellite and ground towers. It will work just fine in your Class C.
